I started out working in and then running corporate restaurants and a lot of times after a long shift we'd end up at one of the local bars eating a burger. that’s because in New Orleans, you’d always find the best burgers in bars. And that was my inspiration! …but I wanted a place that I could bring my family, so Phil's Grill was born.

If I had only one meal left to eat it would be a half-pound hunk of ground beef cooked medium (so it’s just bloody enough) on a plain white bun (no seeds), yellow mustard, pickles and shredded cheddar cheese washed down with an iced-cold beer. But just because I have simple burger needs doesn't mean you have to.

I want your Burger Experience to be as fun as it is flavorful, so I'm committed to fresh, quality ingredients and I give you full creative license! There are over one million ways to build a better burger at Phil's, so for everyone from the foodies to the finicky, the gluten intolerant to the gluttonous, there’s a burger for you! That's why I tell everyone “See Ya Tomorrow!”

Starting a business on the heels of Hurricane Katrina, my wife Christina and I knew we were also committing to being part of the rebuilding. So, in addition to supporting local churches, schools and organizations with fundraisers, we also have our own PHILanthropy! We celebrate National Burger Month each May with Burgerpalooza, a celebrity burger building event that now includes a burger cook-off and a bash with live music & silent auction. Due to our community service we've been recognized 5 times by the National Restaurant Association as a Louisiana Good Neighbor Restaurant.

In a very short time we've blazed a trail of better burgers in New Orleans and have been recognized now 7 consecutive years as The Best Burger in the Big Easy by Where Y'At Magazine’s readers as well as Top 5 Burgers in New Orleans by the Times Picayune, 8 Great Places To Get A Burger in New Orleans, Top 3 in Gambit Magazine's reader’s poll, featured on The Cooking Channels Best in Chow – and the list goes on. To be recognized as one of the best in any aspect of the industry in a city with such a rich culinary tradition as New Orleans is truly humbling and very much appreciated.

When you’re with us, I don't want you to be just a guest, I want you to be part of the family. Phil's is a family owned restaurant, so when you're here it should be like grilling in my backyard. We're going to offer you our best and treat you like family. The boys love the restaurant and being part of it. Jackson's old enough now that he's on the payroll. Jacob doesn't hesitate to jump in making drinks, seating the door and running food. Jude is always asking to help out and it may not be long before Corey has one of his own...then Jude will have someone to boss around!
